I found this abandoned at the nearby, nearly-abandoned mall the other day. It has a flat tire and the Texas registration expired last month. I find it hard to believe the car is fully dead if it drove four states over before getting ditched.
I just wanna use it for the SE Gambler 500 next year, but I have no idea whether it’s going to auction or straight to the crusher. Probably the latter.

Don’t need to worry about a title if racecar!

Very true!
That said, I might just keep my current Escort as one. Depending on what it can go for, I might just keep it uninsured (it’s been out of commission for a few months) and tow it to rallycrosses. That’s if I move out and get a tow vehicle...

OMG that looks like Gwinnett Place Mall!!
Hey Oppo! I actually recognized someplace in a post! (maybe)
If it is, there is an official procedure to claim title for an abandoned car in GA
I’m not sure right off what that is, but it is a thing and it exists

Perhaps stolen and dumped?

Maybe speak to mall management, ask them how much their usual tow service charges them? Then offer to remove this [ahem, nuisance] — don’t tell them it’s actually a potential treasure ;-) for half their usual lol

There’s ways to save it - if you can find somebody who can help at the mall, and ask about it. If its abandoned, there’s a good chance they’ll let you have it.

I would bet on stolen.

Just bring it home and start the racecar conversion. Clearly no one will be looking for it.

You know how we talking about that engine the other day. If you want a caged (SCCA spec), ready to go race car with two spare engines, a bunch of other parts and a nice set of Miata rims I know where to find one. We are ready to move onto something else.
Speaking of abandoned Escorts. There was one on the side of 285 between Lilburn and the airport for about three weeks. I thought about leaving a note on the windshield. It looked like it was in good shape.

I have wheels from the gen-after-this Escort on my ‘09 Accent as summer rims. :)

I probably won’t be in a position to get another car for quite a while, unfortunately.
And yeah, there was also a wrecked EGT on 85 under the 316 ramp for a while, too.

Gwinnett Place Mall indeed!
If it’s still there after I move out and have the space for another car, I’ll look into it further. Only worry I have is the interior must be moldy as hell after this rain we’ve gotten, with that missing window.

The 6-spoke (3 pairs) ones? Those are some legitimately attractive wheels.

MT or AT? Mine is an auto that may or may not get a manual swap if and when it goes. I didn’t check what this one is, but I’m guessing auto since it has the wing and alloys. Probably checked off a few more boxes.
